ABOUT ME

Triathlon Tales was born off the back of a friend wanting to get into triathlon, and asking me for advice.

Yikes, I thought, what should I tell them about first?

Should I start with the expense? The black toenails and saddle sores? Maybe the amount of cupboard space they'll be requiring? Then the space needed for their two bikes? The cold, dark mornings or the incomplete sessions? The unimaginable hunger or the fatigue? The neglecting of social activities because you have an early ride? The planning of your holidays around where there is an accessible pool and cycle-able roads? The fact that race entry alone is hundreds of dollars? What about the obsession factor? She needs a bike, and some cleats, but then probably an indoor trainer too, oh and a safe helmet, then a bike computer, and there's this really cool tail light that alerts you when a car is coming, and the power pedals and oops we forgot the cycling clothing too!

Ok, so I didn't tell them any of this. Instead, I started Triathlon Tales, where I can share my experiences as a beginner triathlete to help others wanting to start out.

I am a 25 year old female with approximately 3 years triathlon experience (on and off!) I have completed 1 x 70.3 and my goal is to finish a sub 5hr 70.3 within the next few years. Despite all the things I listed above - I love triathlons and want to share that passion with others :)
